1.Manchester Wasp Control Always ask for a price of how much it costs to deal with a wasp nest OR more than one wasp nest before a treatment is arranged. It has been known (from a minority few) for a “low price” to be quoted over the phone to deal with a wasp or hornets nest and then “built up” when THE COMPANY SENDS THE EMPLOYEE is on site address
2. Be wary if the price quoted seems too cheap ask your self Why. Remember the old adage “buy cheap, pay twice!” how much would it cost to put right if the treatment doesn’t work from an opportunist trader?
3. The cost to deal with your wasp nest is more than likely going to be for dealing with just one wasp nest. If you can see that you have wasps entering your property in several places it is very likely that you have more than one wasp nest. Be sure to have a thorough look around your property and give the pest control company as much information as possible to give you an accurate price.
4. Ask if the pest control company is willing to survey your property to look for other wasp nests (they should do free of charge). It will be a lot cheaper to deal with 2-3 wasp nests at the same time rather than paying for a separate visit in the future.
5. Don’t expect an active wasp nest to be actually “physically removed”. Chemical treatments are normally applied that can take up to 1 to 4 days to be effective.
6. Whilst removal of a dead nest is not necessary, a return visit would normally be required at an additional fee if requested by yourself .
7. For peace of mind check to see if the company can offer any references for similar work carried out or is a member of a scheme like “buy with confidence” or a member of the a Pest Control Association.
8. Ask if there are any guarantee’s if the wasp nest treatment doesn’t work first time. Typically there should be if the job is done right in the first place.

Bed bugs: A nightmare in homes
Here’s an unpleasant pest we’ve been itching to tell you about, and unfortunately you might have been itching too…
At Manchester Pest Control we do appreciate that this is no laughing matter. People will react to the presence of bed bugs in different ways, with some not experiencing much in the way of discomfort at all, so it can be hard to know when you have an infestation under your roof. Some family members or guests may have visible bites, which it is easy to confuse with being bitten by a mosquito, though a mosquito will bite at random. A series of bites in a straight line is more likely to be the work of a bed bug. This can cause unpleasant itching or a rash, which scratching could then cause to become infected.
We should stress that bed bugs aren’t dangerous, but this doesn’t make them any easier to live with. They’re not even a sign of a dirty home, but your home can feel dirty knowing they’re in it. And it’s understandable that you could be finding it difficult to sleep, either because you’re being bitten, worrying about being bitten, or just plain aware of their presence when you try and tuck down at night. It’s not something you want your family, house guests and pets being exposed to on a permanent basis either.
You can see bed bugs with the naked eye – adults are about half a centimetre long, rust-coloured, and have flat bodies which they can squeeze into tiny cracks and crevices, the seams of mattresses, and in and around headboards. You might find dead ones in your sheets if you have rolled onto them in the night. They don’t just confine their activity to the bedroom, however, and can quickly spread all over the home, to other furniture and carpets. A single female can lay up to 500 eggs in just a two month period. In a block of flats, it is very easy for them to spread from one flat to another.
Bed bugs may also enter your home on clothing or in luggage if you have been holidaying at a hotel or B&B where they are a problem. They can arrive in second-hand furniture or rugs. And once they are in your home, they can be very difficult to get rid of. Sometimes you might think the problem has gone away on its own or with a shop-bought remedy, but it is possible for a bed bug to survive almost a whole year without feeding. They have also become immune to an increasing number of insecticides – in fact, some insecticides used in close proximity to where you sleep may be more harmful to you than to the bed bugs!
