Found a Wasp Nest? Here’s what to do for the best…
Given the potential danger of wasps, this is always a job best left for the professionals. By following the following basic steps, treatment is swift and easy! We would respectively ask to refrain DIY attempts at dealing with a wasp nest as this often makes our job more difficult, longer to carry out and more expensive in the long run!
While we are on our way –
DO NOT approach the nest or attempt to trap the wasps inside by blocking the opening.
PLEASE DO: ensure we have easy access to the area and locked doors or gates are unlocked
Children and animals are kept well away – preferably indoors and fishponds should be covered over
Close all windows to prevent wasps entering the house, advise neighbours to do likewise
Advise if you need to pay by card and have poor mobile reception – our portable card machines can’t operate without a signal and alternative payment arrangements will need to be made in order for the work to be carried out.
What to expect when we arrive
We quickly and efficiently go about treatment of the nest. Its vital children and pets remain safely away from the area, and the area is as accessible as possible. If Items can be safely removed out of the way, such as wheelie bins, lawnmowers, then please do so.
Any unnecessary delays may result in an additional charge for time spent over and above normal treatment duration
After treatment is complete:
You MUST NOT
• Attempt to remove the treated nest otherwise any wasps that have been at work during treatment will return and rebuild in the same place, and any larvae about to hatch will not exterminated. The treated nest is completely harmless and biodegradable in time.
You MUST:
• Stay away from the nest/area for at least 2 hours after our technician leaves. Wasps can swarm and attempt to defend their nest in the immediate aftermath of treatment
• Keep windows closed and children/animals away during the first few hour
• Once 2 -3 hours has passed, you can safely brush up and dispose of wasp carcasses on the ground, and open windows
• Retain receipts issued by the technician – it contains helpful information as well acting as your guarantee for a free revisit if needed.
• Call us back if you see healthy wasps entering and leaving the same spot as you will be entitled to a free repeat visit as part of our professional guaranteed service, provided all advice has been followed. You may observe a small number of dying wasps in the area in the first couple of weeks following treatment, which is unavoidable due to the nature of wasps.
Manchester Pest Control are confident in the quality and efficiency of the service we provide, and proud to guarantee our wasp nest treatments. However, if conditions stated above have not been followed as advised here and by our technician during their visit, we reserve the right to charge accordingly for follow up visits.
